A product of our own local high school
system, Chris graduated from Bothell
High. She has been an assistant on
our staff for over a year. Chris greatly
enjoys all the cases that we see, both “routine”
and not-so-routine.
Chris belongs to “Claire,” an acknowledged “couch potato” when not masquerading as an American Staffordshire terrier/borzoi mixed breed dog. Chris enjoys her family, viewing Animal Planet, and watching Claire interact with her young niece and nephew.
Chris does not enjoy finding the cap left off of the tube of toothpaste...
Tonya joined our team 10 years ago and now has more than 14 years of experience as a veterinary assistant. She once served as a Postmaster for the U.S. Post Office, but says she finds veterinary work very rewarding and satisfying. Tonya finds the “close-knit, family atmosphere” of the Woodinville Animal Hospital to be a real plus for her.
Dogs are a big part of her life. In the past she has owned four Rottweilers and champions the breed, stating that they receive “bad press...(and ) can be the most loving, gentle dogs, given proper training.” Her current “rottie” is Bison, and she also owns a shiba inu named Lakota Sioux, as well as Momar, the resident feline in her life.
Describing herself as “Type A” at work, and “Type B” at home, she enjoys cooking and cheering for the Seahawks. She is also very interested in Native American folklore and collects buffalo – “not alive, but figurines and artwork.”
Tonya also has an active side vocation: dog sitting.
Although I am truly Princess Moochie, you may refer to me as Moochie, or the Mooch. I have directed the humans here at the Woodinville Animal Hospital for over 16 years, which could be counted as 114 human years in some circles, which makes me by far the oldest one here, which, I guess properly makes me the Boss. I’m the Official Greeter, too, of course.
Throughout my career I’ve seen it all, watching kittens, puppies, rabbits, rats, hamsters, and the occasional bird or reptile pass through these doors. I’m terrific at mixing in with the staff for treatments, surgeries, X-rays, you name it. Of course, my favorite time of day is lunch. I must say I really go for KFC chicken snacks, although pizza, beef sandwiches, and the like are also (readily) acceptable. I was asked whether I owned any pets....Silly! I have 8 humans to brush feed, and play with me (laser lights are just the best!)
Oh, and one little intimate note: I just love the UPS delivery guy. (Don’t let him know it, tho’. I’m playing hard-to-get.)
Ayla was new to veterinary medicine when she joined our staff as an assistant in the summer of 2010. She has very much enjoyed learning the many aspects of the job and the profession and loves working with all sorts of animals, although the puppies are what really turn her head. She has two of her own: Kimbo, a big name for a 15 lb dachshund “watch” dog whose major claim to fame is chasing butterflies; and “Henry”, her newest acquisition, a Staffordshire bull terrier puppy which she hopes to train to be a service dog. if he ever grows out of his cuteness stage.
At home, Ayla is another Seahawks fanatic, and loves to host dinner parties and BBQ’s for the games.
Shaunise joined our staff two years ago, after a brief career as a licensed cosmetologist. She still dabbles in “human fur” from time to time, but has come to really enjoy learning more about veterinary medicine, “all the cute dogs,” and “Dr. Frey’s jokes.” Her own special someone is “Cooper,” a spaniel mixed breed dog who loves to do anything and to go anywhere that his mistress does. And, “he gives high fives!”
Shaunise is a real outdoor enthusiast. She surfs and snow boards, and loves camping. She is an avid soccer player, and so, of course, is a big Seattle Sounders fan. And, on the quirky side, Shaunise admits that she “loves pigs.” Who knew?
Vicky has long been a stalwart on the Woodinville Animal Hospital team, having joined us over 13 years ago! Along with her veterinary assistant duties, she has long been our Chief Inventory Control Clerk, a task requiring dedication and more than a little tenacity. She enjoys both the work and the camaraderie of the team – “we have fun together!”
Vicky and her husband Jeff enjoy traveling and hiking, usually accompanied by two Jack Russell “terrier-ists” named Angel and Penny. Both of these companions have “special needs”, as they suffer from breed-related deafness and partial blindness. None-the-less, Vicky gives them high marks for “their intelligence and joy of life even in the face of their handicaps.”
She confesses, by the way, to always having “...been a magnet for unwanted and handicapped animals.”
Bobbe holds the prize for longevity on our team, having been with us for over 21 years! As a veterinary assistant, she has observed many changes through the years, and always has enjoyed her fellow co-workers – “we have fun!”
Bobbe was once a breeder of Shetland sheep dogs (“shelties”), but has now become partial to golden retrievers, particularly her current love, 3-year-old “Smooch.” Smooch shares love-time with Beau Brommel, a Himalayan kitty. She finds them both to be extremely social and affectionate, wishing to be with Bobbe and husband Jim “at all times.”
Bobbe enjoys cooking and sewing, and once owned her own clothing line! She acknowledges that she likes things orderly and organized “in a ...logical way,” but categorically denies staff rumors that she is OCD!
